DESIGNING STEPS FOR MAIL PIECE

1: Class of mail
a. First
b. Standard Bulk
c. Non-Profit
2: Size of mail piece
a. If smaller than 4.25 inches
high and 6 inches wide the piece qualifies for the FIRST
CLASS POSTCARD RATE.
b. If larger than 6.125 inches
high and 11.5 inches wide the piece must go at FLAT RATE.
c. NO
mail piece can be smaller than 3 ½ inches tall
and 5 inches wide.
d. NO
mail piece more than ¼ inch thick can mail at LETTER
RATE.
3: Weight of mail piece
a. STANDARD LETTER RATE mail can
weigh up to 3.5 oz
b. NON-PROFIT LETTER RATE mail
can weigh up to 3.5 oz.
c. FIRST CLASS RATE mail can weigh
no more than 1 oz. for each rate.
4: Barcode clearance on
POSTCARDS
a. There MUST be at least 3
1/2 INCHES from right hand edge of piece that is
CLEAR space.
b. There MUST be at least 2
5/8 INCHES from bottom edge of piece that is CLEAR
space.
c. NO
print of any kind can be near barcode or address 1/8
of an inch on left or right.
d. NO
print of any kind can be near barcode or address 1/25
of an inch on top or bottom.
5: Barcode clearance on
LETTERS
a. There MUST be a CLEAR
